About Me

JudySummersI’ve been tutoring math, on and off, for over 40 years─ since high school─and I’ve always loved working one-on-one with students! I’m the director of Montclair State’s Red Hawk Math Learning Center, was an instructor at Rutgers for 10 years, and lead workshops for Sequent Learning Networks, a  learning and advisory company that specializes in product management, strategy and marketing. I have also volunteered for Jewish Vocational Services, teaching math to adults working towards their high school equivalency degrees.

I have a B.A. in math from the University of Rochester and a quantitative M.B.A. from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. The National Tutoring Association has certified that my training, references and experience meet industry standards.

My nonjudgmental coaching dissipates the math anxiety that often holds students back, and I frequently see changes in their attitude by the end of our first session. Because I focus on their specific learning needs─ and no one else’s─I make the best use of their time.

Kids with failing grades begin to realize that math isn’t impossible and develop the self-assurance to perform well in class. High achievers are helped to reach their full potential.
